- No School: Wednesday, November 11th: Veterans Day
- No School: November 25-27 due to Thanksgiving Break.
Reading: Our focus for the remainder of November will be to continue to work on our new animal habitat unit. This will include exposure to varied Informational Texts, important vocabulary and the definitions of words in context, learning about differing resources, how to research and collect important notes, as well as inquiry circles where students work together to study more about specific animals and the environments in which they survive. Don't forget to practice your Unit 1 high-frequency words that were sent home in the packet! :)
Writing: We will be focusing on informational texts and recording valuable facts through research. We will also be working on narrative stories and identifying the critical elements (the who, the where, and the what).
Math: In math, we will be counting up and back on the number line to add and subtract. We will be using the number line to solve equations with the unknown number in various positions. We will be skip counting to add and subtract. Children will be introduced to Frame-and-Arrow diagrams and solve problems within them that involve counting, addition, and subtraction.
