I would like to start the week by telling you all about the amazing job that your kiddos did to beautify our Willett school grounds! Our entire first grade group worked together to find some areas that required some much needed love. They diligently cleaned, weeded, and planted both perennials and annuals to enhance the front entrance of our school. The pride that they took in their work was absolutely wonderful to experience and enjoy together. I hope you the photos that we took to capture this moment of community engagement.
ELA: This week we will be working on the second to last story in our Reading Street Unit 4. It is by and author that many of you may know from past and present experiences. The author is Ezra Jack Keats and the story is "Peter's Chair". Keats is one of my favorite authors because he often drew his inspiration from real "characters" he may have met or had the opportunity to see in photographs. In addition to the focus story, we will also take a closer look at the life of Ezra Jack Keats and learn more about how he came to be such a great artist/illustrator and author.
MATH: This week we will be focusing on the review of function machines, telling time on an analog clock and it's digital representation, as well as working on fractional pieces and parts of a whole.
