I wanted to congratulate all of our fantastic first grade students in our classroom! You did an amazing job of encouraging those Marine recruits who needed a little extra love when training was a challenge! I am very proud of you! Your individual letters, postcards, and our final class letter with flags made a big impact!
Mr. Ward brought a wonderful learning experience to our school that was sponsored by Mr. Feinstein! The children loved learning all about reptiles, both native and non-native to our area. When we were talking about his program it brought up a great conversation that although we may not "like" a particular animalistic one of the students put it, we have to learn to respect that animal as an important part of the environment and ecosystem. I know I won't be snuggling up to any spiders any time soon! :) However, I respect them for what they provide in an environment. Without spiders, we would be missing an important part of our natural insect control, and certain animals would be missing a part of their diet. The same holds true for any animal! We may not want to " snuggle" up, with some of them, anytime soon. However, it is important to recognize that they all have an important part in an ecosystem and we need to respect them.
